Meet Dr. Sharon Gavin
Raised in upstate New York, Dr. Gavin began her audiology and speech pathology studies close to home at State University of New York at Geneseo. She completed her degree in 1971 and then received her Master’s degree, cum laude, in Audiology from Pennsylvania State University in 1972. Forever a student, Dr. Gavin returned to continue her studies and in March 2010 received a Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences.
At the beginning of her professional career, Dr. Gavin was instrumental in the development of the inpatient audiology program at Blythedale Children’s Hospital and then served as a pediatric clinician for multiply handicapped children at Mt. Carmel Guild for the Blind. She later served as a clinician at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Greenwich Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Gavin was as a staff member at Phelps Memorial Hospital from 1980 to 2000.
Following her clinical positions in hospitals, Dr. Gavin decided to pursue private practice and co-founded one of the first private audiology practices in Tarrytown, N.Y. with her husband, Daniel Gavin. She currently practices at additional locations in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. and Greenwich, CT.with her husband and daughter, Chelsea Gavin.
Dr. Gavin is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of the New York State Speech Language and Hearing Association and a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and serves on the Alumni Board of Directors of the Arizona School of Health Sciences. In addition, Dr. Gavin is a member of the NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing Advisory Board.
